Does pregnancy change vision?

Sometimes my vision feels a bit blurry, especially after a long day. A friend who was recently pregnant mentioned her vision changed during her pregnancy. I'm wondering if this is a common occurrence.

Yes, child, the fluid retention in the body during pregnancy can sometimes affect the thickness of your eyes, making your vision slightly blurry. In our days, we were told to rest our eyes and splash cool water on them to ease the tiredness. However, if you see any sudden spots or have severe blurriness, please check with your doctor immediately.

My wife actually complained that her glasses felt a bit off while she was binge-watching her favorite cooking shows! Hormones do weird things, including changing the fluid levels in your eyes. Just eat well, stay hydrated, and don't rush to get new expensive spectacles right away as it usually goes back to normal later.

Having PCOS made me highly cautious about any bodily changes, as insulin resistance can sometimes play a role in eye health. I did feel some dry eyes and slight blurriness during my pregnancy. It is always best to be cautious and mention this to your doctor during your regular prenatal checkups.

I remember my vision getting slightly blurry during my second pregnancy, and I was so worried I would need stronger glasses forever. But my doctor assured me it was temporary, and indeed, a few weeks after delivery, my eyesight went completely back to normal. Don't worry too much about it.

Yes, water retention can temporarily alter the shape of your cornea. To support your overall eye health during this time, try incorporating vitamin-A rich foods like carrots, spinach, and sweet potatoes into your daily vegetarian diet. Make sure you don't take any high-dose vitamin supplements without your doctor's green light.

I noticed that my contact lenses started irritating my eyes a lot more during my third trimester, and my vision felt slightly fuzzy at times. I just switched to wearing glasses for those few months and avoided wearing lenses. The issue went away completely on its own after my baby was born.

Please pay close attention to this. While mild vision changes can happen, sudden blurry vision or seeing flashing lights can be a warning sign of high blood pressure or preeclampsia. My wife had this, so we had to monitor her BP very strictly. Please get your blood pressure checked right away if you notice any major vision changes.
