Does pregnancy cause loose stools?

Since starting my pregnancy, my bowel movements have changed a lot. I'm having loose stools frequently, and it's making me a bit worried. Is this a common symptom of pregnancy?

I totally get it, dealing with an upset stomach when you are already dealing with morning sickness is just exhausting. Your body is highly sensitive right now, so even slight dietary changes can trigger loose motions. Just focus on simple, bland foods like curd rice and bananas to soothe your tummy.

I completely understand how stressful this is, because any sudden change in your body during pregnancy can make you panic. When I got loose stools in my fifth month, I was terrified it would affect the baby. But my doctor assured me it's often just hormonal shifts or dietary changes, which really eased my mind.

I literally just recovered from this last week! My doctor told me that sometimes the prenatal iron vitamins can upset your stomach and cause either extreme. I switched to a different brand of iron supplement after consulting my doctor, and my stomach has finally settled down.

Yes, digestive changes are common, but you need to be very careful about dehydration. Keep up your electrolyte intake and do only very light, gentle walking if your doctor permits, as heavy exertion when your stomach is upset can drain your energy quickly. Listen to your body.

I really struggled emotionally during this phase because I felt so weak and dirty constantly running to the bathroom, and I felt like my body was failing. Please know that you are not alone and it is a very common physical reaction to the hormones. Be gentle with yourself and give your body rest.

I have seen many mothers in this group ask about this, and yes, loose stools can happen, especially close to labor or during early hormonal surges. My practical advice is to stick to home-cooked food, drink plenty of coconut water, and if the loose motions last for more than 24 hours, definitely call your gynaecologist.

I have had loose motions twice today and I am so scared that this might trigger early contractions. Did anyone else experience this in their second trimester? Please share your experience, I am feeling really anxious right now.
