Does pregnancy affect eyes?

I'm in my second trimester, and I've noticed my eyesight seems a bit blurry sometimes, especially when I'm tired. Can pregnancy affect your eyes or vision in any way, or is this something else?

Yes, pregnancy hormones and fluid retention can cause dry eyes or mild blurriness. It usually goes back to normal after delivery.

I completely understand how scary it is when your vision suddenly feels a bit blurry or different during pregnancy. Hormonal changes and water retention can actually change the shape of your cornea temporarily. Try to stay calm, it is very common, but do tell your doctor.

I delivered my baby last month, and during my third trimester, my eyes were so dry and my vision was slightly off. My gynecologist assured me it was just fluid retention in the eye tissues. True enough, my vision is completely back to normal now.

Look, mild dryness or slight vision changes can happen due to hormones, but don't take it lightly. If you are seeing sudden flashes of light, spots, or have severe blurriness, it could be a sign of high blood pressure or preeclampsia. Get your BP checked immediately.

Hormones can definitely affect your eyes during this time. Eating foods rich in beta-carotene and omega-3, like carrots, spinach, and soaked walnuts, can help support eye health. Always consult your doctor before taking any external vitamin supplements.

Beta, during pregnancy, the body goes through many changes and eyes can feel tired or dry. You can splash cool clean water on your eyes morning and evening, and make sure you get enough sleep. Do not put any medical eye drops without asking your doctor first.

Oh yes! My eyesight got a bit blurry and I also got those annoying dry eyes. It is just another gift of pregnancy hormones! Keep drinking lots of water and give your eyes some rest from screens. It gets perfectly fine later! 😊

When I was pregnant with my son, my contact lenses suddenly started feeling super uncomfortable and my eyes felt very dry. I switched to glasses and used doctor-approved lubricating drops. It is just a temporary phase, so take good care of your eyes.

Any change in vision during pregnancy should be reported to your doctor immediately. While dry eyes are harmless, sudden blurry vision or seeing double can be a symptom of gestational diabetes or preeclampsia, which require urgent medical evaluation.

My wife faced dry eyes during her pregnancy. Along with keeping her hydrated and taking her for gentle evening walks to improve blood circulation, we made sure she took breaks from her laptop. It definitely helped reduce the eye strain.
