Does potassium citrate cause weight gain?

My doctor prescribed potassium citrate for my recurrent urinary issues. I've been taking it for a few weeks now, and I feel like I've gained a little weight. Could this medication be causing weight gain?

No bro, it doesn't cause weight gain. I was taking it for some urine burning issues last year and my weight stayed exactly the same. You are safe.

I have seen many people in this group asking about potassium citrate. It is prescribed for kidney stones and does not affect your fat or weight. Just make sure you take it with meals as sometimes it can cause a mild upset stomach.

Haan, weight gain ka to koi link nahi hai isse. Actually it just helps to make your urine less acidic. Thoda paani zyada piya karo, simple baat hai na.

I also got so scared of weight gain when my doctor gave me this. I kept checking my scale every morning, but honestly nothing happened. It is just for kidney support, so don't stress yourself out too much.

It won't affect your weight. Any change you see is probably just water retention or diet-related. Stick to your exercise routine and take the medicine as directed.

Don't blindly believe what people say on forums. If you are experiencing unexplained weight gain while on potassium citrate, please go ask your doctor. Only they can tell if it's a side effect or something else entirely.
