Does polycystic ovaries cause weight gain?

I was recently diagnosed with PCOD and I've noticed a lot of weight gain, especially around my mid-section. My doctor mentioned it's common, but I want to understand if the polycystic ovaries themselves are directly causing this weight gain.

Yes, it is one of the most common issues with PCOS due to insulin resistance. Many women struggle with this, but a consistent routine of balanced eating and active living helps. Don't lose hope, just take it one step at a time.

Oh absolutely, with PCOS even just looking at a gulab jamun feels like it adds two kilos to my waist! It makes the metabolism so slow. But joke aside, it's a real biological struggle, so don't be too hard on yourself.

Yes, insulin resistance in PCOS makes your body store fat instead of burning it, leading to weight gain. It's not just about willpower, it is a metabolic issue. Talk to your doctor, sometimes they prescribe meds like metformin to help manage this.

Yes, weight gain is very common, but it can also be linked to thyroid or other endocrine issues. Please don't start any crash diets from the internet to lose it. Get your blood work and a proper diagnosis done by a gynecologist first.

Haan, bilkul hota hai! Weight gain toh sabse bada headache hai PCOS mein. Hum jitna marzi kam khayein, weight kam karna mushkil ho jata hai na. But regular walks aur sugary items band karne se thoda farq padta hai.

It definitely does, babe, and it is so frustrating when you feel like you are doing everything right and still gaining. Just don't stress too much about the scale. Your body is going through a hormonal roller coaster, so give yourself some grace and love.

I panic every time I weigh myself because of my PCOS, it's so stressful. I keep thinking what if it never stops going up? But please don't lose heart, we are all in this together. Regular doctor consults and small lifestyle changes do help stabilize it eventually.

Yes, my doctor explained that PCOS causes high levels of insulin and male hormones, which makes our cells resistant to absorbing glucose. This leads to fat storage, particularly around the belly. A low-glycemic diet and regular strength training were highly recommended by my endocrinologist.
