Does pcos make your hair fall out?

I've noticed a significant amount of hair fall recently, much more than usual, and it's making me quite anxious. I have PCOS, and I'm trying to figure out if this could be a symptom. Does PCOS commonly cause your hair to fall out?

I was just diagnosed with PCOS last month and my hair brush is suddenly full of hair every morning. It is making me so nervous. Does this hair fall stop once the hormones are balanced, or is it permanent?

Yes, high androgen levels in PCOS cause hair thinning, especially at the crown. I track my sister's health metrics on our family app, and we noticed her hair fall reduced when her fasting insulin levels improved. Keep track of your blood work and diet, it really helps monitor progress.

Let's be practical—PCOS related hair loss is hormonal, so normal hair oils won't fix it. You need to address the root cause, which is elevated testosterone. Go to a good dermatologist and a gynecologist who can prescribe proper medical blockers or therapy.

Between work stress and PCOS, I feel like my vacuum cleaner is eating more of my hair than what is left on my head. It is honestly so frustrating to see hair everywhere. I just try to take my iron pills and sleep on time, hoping my scalp cooperates.

Yes, my dear, hormonal hair thinning is a very common and distressing symptom of PCOS. Along with your doctor's advice, make sure you are eating enough protein like paneer, eggs, or sprouts, as hair needs proper nutrition to grow. Don't worry, with consistent care, it does get better.

My cousin has PCOS and she was super stressed about losing her hair before college started. She actually stopped using heat stylers and started eating a lot of seeds and nuts, which helped her. It is a slow process but totally doable.

I was losing chunks of hair last year and felt so hopeless. But after working on my gut health, taking my prescribed supplements, and managing my stress, I am finally seeing tiny baby hairs growing back. It takes about 6 months, so please have patience.

Yes, it is common, but don't waste time on 10-step hair care routines when you have a busy schedule. Just focus on a clean, low-sugar diet and get your doctor to check if you need any iron or thyroid medicine. Keeping it simple and medically sound is the most efficient way.

I totally get it, seeing your hair thin out can be so emotionally painful and takes away your confidence. It is a very hard symptom to deal with. Please remember that this is a internal hormonal issue and you are doing the best you can, so try to be kind to yourself.

The panic I felt every time I washed my hair was indescribable, and it really made me feel so isolated. I want to validate that your fear is completely real and normal. Just know that you are not alone in this, and finding a supportive doctor who takes this symptom seriously is the first step.

Hormonal alopecia due to excess androgens is indeed a clinical feature of PCOS. While lifestyle modifications help, relying solely on home remedies might delay effective treatment. It is best to seek a professional medical opinion to evaluate your specific hormonal profile.

My 19-year-old daughter was crying every day because of her widening partition. I stopped her from trying chemical hair treatments and took her to a doctor to get her hormone levels checked. With a clean diet and regular multivitamin tablets, her hair fall has reduced significantly.
