Does pantoprazole cause hair loss?

I've been taking Pantoprazole for my acidity issues for a few months now. Recently, I've noticed a significant increase in hair shedding when I comb or shower. Is it possible that this medication could be causing my hair loss?

Beta, taking heavy medicines for acidity for a long time can sometimes affect your digestion and lead to hair fall. You can try drinking cold milk or fennel water in the morning to calm your acidity naturally. But do talk to your doctor before stopping any prescribed tablets.

Actually yaar, some people do report hair thinning after taking acidity pills like pantoprazole for months. It probably blocks B12 absorption which affects hair. Maybe talk to your doctor and check if you can shift to some other medication.

I was on daily pantoprazole for almost six months for my reflux, and I did notice my hair getting quite thin during that period. Once my treatment ended and I stopped the medication, the hair fall gradually reduced. I can't say if it's a proven side effect, but that was my experience.

I ignored my hair fall and general weakness while taking long-term antacids, and it turned out my body had stopped absorbing vital vitamins. Don't make the mistake of ignoring it like I did. Go get a proper blood test done and consult your doctor about these side effects immediately.

Yes, long-term use of proton pump inhibitors can occasionally cause hair thinning, usually due to decreased absorption of nutrients like B12 and iron. If you are taking it daily, get your vitamin levels checked. Don't stop the medicine abruptly; ask your doctor for an alternative.

When my husband was prescribed this long-term, our doctor at Manipal Hospital mentioned that extended use can sometimes lead to minor hair thinning due to nutritional deficiencies. It is a known but rare side effect. You should clearly ask your doctor if you can taper down the dosage.

Don't blindly believe people online saying that pantoprazole is making their hair fall out. Hair loss can be caused by stress, genetics, or diet. You must consult the doctor who prescribed the medicine to find out if it's actually the culprit or if something else is going on.

It can sometimes happen indirectly because prolonged antacid use affects gut absorption of vitamins. Improving your lifestyle, eating a clean diet, and regular light jogging can naturally reduce acidity so you don't need these daily pills. Always discuss this with your physician first.
