Does oily scalp cause hair loss?

My scalp gets oily very fast, and for the past few months, I've been noticing significant hair loss. I'm worried they might be connected. Is it possible that an oily scalp directly causes hair loss, or is it just a coincidence?

I feel like my scalp gets greasy just a day after washing, and I am seeing so much thinning near my parting lately. Does this happen to others too? I am so worried that the oil is completely choking my hair roots.

I totally understand how stressful it is to wake up with greasy hair and see strands on your pillow. I used to obsessively wash my hair twice a day, which actually made it oilier. Please try to stay calm, a clean scalp is easy to achieve once you find the right routine.

With my PCOS, I deal with both an oily scalp and androgenic alopecia, which are closely related. The excess sebum itself doesn't cause the loss, but it's often a sign of underlying hormonal issues. I suggest getting a hormone panel done rather than just changing shampoos.

I tried multani mitti and lemon rinses to dry out my oily scalp, but they were too drying and made my scalp produce even more oil. What actually helped was using a gentle tea tree shampoo twice a week. Keep it simple and don't over-dry your scalp.

Hey, don't stress too much about it! Just wash your hair every alternate day with a mild clarifying shampoo to keep the grease away. Stressing about it actually causes more hair fall, so just chill and keep your scalp clean.

My mother used to tell me to apply shikakai paste to wash away the oil, which was helpful. But my doctor explained that excessive oiliness can sometimes be due to dietary habits or stress. I followed his advice to eat cleaner and use a mild daily wash, and it worked well.

With a 9-to-9 job, I don't have time for elaborate hair care. An oily scalp will attract dirt and lead to itching, which definitely increases shedding. Just use a standard salicylic acid shampoo twice a week, it takes no extra time and keeps the scalp clean.

Haan na, oily scalp makes hair look so thin and flat. If we don't wash it, dust sticks to it and causes hair fall. Just wash your hair regularly with a mild shampoo, it solves half the problem easily.
