Does obesity cause hair loss on legs?

My legs have been feeling rough, and I've noticed a reduction in hair growth on them recently. I am also quite obese. Could there be a connection, like obesity causing hair loss specifically on the legs? I found it a bit strange.

Yes, obesity can cause poor blood circulation and skin stretching, which leads to hair loss on the lower legs. Don't waste time on random creams. Get your blood sugar and circulation checked by a doctor during your next weekend off.

I noticed some smooth patches on my shins and immediately panicked thinking it was a major nerve issue or deep vein thrombosis. If you are noticing this, please get your blood circulation and sugar levels checked. It is better to get professional advice to put your mind at ease.

I was reading about this online and found that carrying excess weight can lead to a condition called venous insufficiency. The pressure on your leg veins reduces blood flow to the hair follicles, causing them to shrink. It's a very interesting biological link.

I have also noticed that the hair on my lower legs has become very sparse lately since I gained weight. Has anyone else experienced this along with mild swelling in the ankles? I am a bit worried about what it could mean.

I love my late-night desserts, but noticing weird changes like less leg hair really made me pause. Apparently, poor blood flow from being overweight causes this. It's definitely a sign for us to watch our sweet cravings and move more!

Well, look at the bright side, at least you save money on waxing and shaving! But seriously, it's just your body's way of asking for a bit more movement and a healthier routine. Keep moving and don't stress!

It is quite common for leg hair to thin out when there is pressure on the veins due to weight. There is no need to panic, but please make sure you don't sit in one place for too long. Let's start with short daily walks to improve circulation.
