Does oats cause weight gain?

I've started adding oats to my diet thinking they're super healthy. But then my gym instructor mentioned that if I eat too much, it could actually make me gain weight because of the calories. Do oats generally contribute to weight gain?

Totally agree with others here. Oats only cause weight gain if you cook them in heavy cream or add sugar.

Oats absolutely do not cause weight gain. They are high in complex carbohydrates and beta-glucan fiber, which actually aids metabolism. If you are gaining weight, you need to track your total daily calorie intake, not blame the oats.

As someone dealing with PCOS, I had to be very careful because sometimes even complex carbs can cause insulin spikes and weight gain for us. I stick to very small portions of steel-cut oats and balance it with proteins like eggs. See how your own body responds.

I know how stressful it is when you try to eat healthy but the scale keeps moving up, it really messes with your mind. For a long time, I was overeating oats thinking they are 'diet food'. Be gentle with yourself and try measuring your raw oats portion first.

No way, oats are your friend! 🥣 Just make sure you are not buying the chocolate or strawberry flavored ones from the store. Keep it plain, add some fresh berries, and you are good to go! 🌟

I started eating massive bowls of oats to lose weight, but my blood sugar levels shot up and I started gaining fat instead. My doctor later found out I had insulin resistance. Please get your fasting insulin levels checked before changing your daily diet drastically.
