Does not eating enough calories stop weight loss?

I've been strictly dieting and working out, but my weight loss has plateaued. My nutritionist mentioned that sometimes not eating enough calories can actually hinder weight loss. I'm finding this confusing; how can eating less stop me from losing weight?

While severe calorie restriction can stall your metabolism, it can also cause hormonal imbalances like thyroid issues. It is always safer to consult a qualified nutritionist or get your blood panels checked before making drastic cuts to your food intake.

Yes, absolutely. I hit a massive plateau when I dropped my calories below 1200 because my body went into survival mode and held onto every gram of fat. Once I raised my calories slightly to a healthy deficit and focused on protein, the weight started dropping again. Don't starve yourself.

I went through the exact same thing last year! I was eating next to nothing and my weight just stuck. Once I started eating normal, home-cooked food in sensible portions and stopped stressing, my body finally let go of the stubborn weight. Trust the process and eat enough!

My grandmother always said that starving the body makes it weak and bloated, not healthy. When I discussed this with my doctor, he confirmed that severe calorie restriction ruins the metabolic rate. It is best to eat well-balanced traditional meals in moderate quantities.

Between long office hours, I used to eat barely one meal a day and wondered why I wasn't losing weight. Your body needs fuel to burn fat, otherwise, it just hoards energy. Eating balanced meals at regular intervals is much more effective than starving.

My doctor explained that when you eat too few calories, your thyroid hormone production (T3) drops, which slows down your metabolic rate to conserve energy. This is called adaptive thermogenesis. He advised me to never go below my basal metabolic rate to keep my weight loss safe and steady.

I know how stressful it is when you are barely eating and still the scale doesn't move, it makes you feel so defeated. Please don't panic, it is just your body trying to protect you because it thinks there is a food shortage. Slowly increasing your healthy food portions will actually help your body relax and lose weight.
