Does ms cause weight gain?

My cousin, who has MS, has put on some weight recently and is quite concerned about it. He's trying to figure out if this is a side effect of his medication or if MS itself can lead to weight gain. Please share any insights.

Hey, don't stress too much about the weight scale right now. MS itself doesn't directly cause weight gain, but the steroids doctor gives during flare-ups and the lack of mobility can definitely add a few kilos. Just focus on feeling better first!

Yes, it can happen, mostly because of steroid medications or feeling too tired to move around! Just take it easy on yourself and eat healthy meals. You've got this! 😊

Weight fluctuations can happen, especially with the medications and reduced activity. Please stay positive, keep your mind peaceful, and take gentle care of your body. Everything gets easier with patience.

Yes, weight gain is common due to steroid treatments. To manage this practically, try to cook simple home meals with less oil and salt, and try to walk a bit inside the house when you have energy.

Honestly, between MS fatigue and steroid cravings, weight gain is so easy. My sleep schedule is a mess and I end up midnight snacking, which doesn't help! Talk to your doc if the weight gain feels too rapid.

It's usually the steroid medication and low activity due to fatigue that causes weight gain. Try focusing on a high-protein, calorie-conscious diet. If your doctor permits, try adding light strength training to maintain muscle mass.

Yes, child, the heavy medicines can make the body swell up and gain weight. Don't worry too much, just eat simple dal-roti and boiled vegetables, and resting is also very important for your health.
