Does motorcycle helmet cause hair loss?

I ride my motorcycle almost every day, and I always wear a helmet for safety. Lately, I've noticed my hairline receding a bit, and I'm wondering if there's any connection. Does wearing a motorcycle helmet cause hair loss?

I don't know about helmets, but my diet of chole bhature surely isn't helping my hairline either! But seriously, if you wear a tight helmet on sweaty hair, the friction can cause traction alopecia. Best to wear a cotton cloth underneath.

Humare gaon mein sab motorcycle chalate hain aur helmet se baal jhadte hain kyunki pasina jam jata hai. Aap hamesha ek saaf suti rumal sir par bandh kar fir helmet pehnein, baal surakshit rahenge.

I used to feel so conscious seeing chunks of hair in my helmet every day after my long office commute. It really messed with my confidence. Swapping to a breathable bandana underneath and washing the helmet pad weekly made a huge difference.

It is not the helmet itself, but the traction from pulling it on and off, plus the sweat accumulation that ruins hair roots. Get a high-quality helmet with removable, washable liners. Wash the inside pads at least twice a month.

Sweat clogs the hair follicles when covered for long hours. Along with keeping your helmet clean, try doing Balayam and simple head rotation exercises to improve blood circulation to the roots after your ride.

Medically, this is called traction alopecia combined with sweat-induced seborrheic dermatitis. My trichologist advised me to always dry my hair completely before wearing a helmet and to avoid wearing it too tight against the scalp.

Choose between your brain and your hair, bro! Safety is first. Just use a soft cloth under the helmet and you can save both your head and your hair quite easily.

I started riding a scooty to work recently and I've noticed so much hair fall near my temples. Is anyone else facing this because of the tight helmet strap, or is it just the pollution?

Don't buy those expensive anti-hairfall oils advertised for helmet users, they don't do anything. If your hair is thinning, it is likely male pattern baldness or genetics, so go see a real dermatologist for a proper diagnosis.

I had terrible hair fall last year due to my 2-hour daily ride. I solved it completely by doing two things: buying a well-ventilated helmet and using a fresh, dry bandana every single day. My hair stopped shedding almost immediately.

My grandmother told me to oil my hair daily to stop this, but my dermatologist explained that sweat build-up in the helmet causes fungal infections which lead to hair fall. Keep your helmet lining clean and dry, that is what actually works.
