Does methimazole cause hair loss?

I've been taking Methimazole for my hyperthyroidism, and lately, my hair is falling out excessively. Is hair loss a common side effect of this medicine?

I completely understand how upsetting it is to see hair fall while starting a new medicine, it can really cause so much anxiety. Yes, methimazole can sometimes cause temporary hair thinning as your thyroid levels adjust. Try to be patient, as it usually stabilizes once your hormones are in balance.

It can cause some hair fall initially, but honestly, focusing on eating nutritious food like protein-rich paneer and almonds really helped me manage it. Don't worry too much, just keep your meals healthy and enjoy your food while the medicine does its work!

Yes, I have been noticing a lot of hair fall since starting methimazole a month ago. Did anyone else experience this when they first began taking it? Please let me know if it stops after a few weeks, I am feeling quite worried about it.

Dekho yaar, thyroid ki goli hai toh hormones badlenge aur thoda hair fall hona normal hai. Isme darrne ki koi baat nahi hai, ye temporary hota hai. Bas chup-chaap apni dawai khaate raho aur tension lena band karo.

Actually yaar, hair loss is a known side effect of methimazole, but it's mostly because of the thyroid levels shifting. Once your thyroid hormones come back to normal range, the hair fall usually stops completely. Just stick to the course and keep your doctor updated.

Oh god, when my doctor prescribed this, I spent hours reading about hair loss side effects and got so scared! It can happen, but my doctor told me it's usually mild and temporary. Don't stress yourself out too much like I did, it will be absolutely fine.
