Does metformin cause hair loss?

I started Metformin a few months ago for my PCOS. Since then, I'm experiencing a lot of hair fall, which was never an issue before. I'm wondering if this medicine is the reason for it.

Yes, it can sometimes cause minor hair thinning, often due to Vitamin B12 depletion over long-term use.

I have been taking this medicine for a long time now. A little hair thinning is natural as we age, so don't blame the medicine immediately. Keep eating healthy home-cooked food and don't take stress about it.

It is a rare side effect, mostly linked to Vitamin B12 deficiency. Just ask your doctor to check your vitamin levels.

Hair fall is often just a sign of internal stress and body imbalance. Keep your mind peaceful, trust the healing process, and eat nutritious meals. Everything will stabilize with time and positive thoughts.

At this point, I don't know if my hair is falling out because of Metformin, my age, or just looking at my monthly bills! But seriously, my doctor did put me on B12 supplements because long-term use of this medicine can lower your vitamin levels. Ask your doctor about it.
