Does meloxicam cause weight gain?

For the last few months, I've been taking meloxicam for my knee pain, and while the pain has reduced, I've also noticed I'm slowly gaining weight. I haven't changed my diet or activity level much. Could this medication be causing me to put on weight?

Honestly, even I am feeling like my face and ankles look a bit puffy after starting this medicine. Did anyone else notice sudden bloating or water retention within a week of taking it? I'm getting quite stressed about the scale creeping up so fast.

Yes, water retention is quite common with these pain killers. Don't worry too much, just keep an eye on it.

Please don't ignore this if you are gaining weight rapidly. I once ignored sudden swelling while on joint painkillers and it turned out to be kidney strain because of fluid retention. Go to your doctor immediately and get your blood pressure and kidney function checked.

Arre, at our age, just looking at water adds weight, and then these medicines make it worse! Meloxicam definitely causes some fluid buildup, making you feel like a balloon. Just talk to your doc before you decide to stop it altogether.

Hey, I totally feel you! When I was taking it for my knee pain, I felt so bloated and heavy. It actually went away once the course finished, but definitely try to reduce your salt intake and drink lots of water in the meantime.

Sometimes these strong medicines disturb our body's natural balance and cause fluid retention. I experienced similar heaviness, but gentle stretching and pranayama helped improve circulation. Please consult your physician to see if they can adjust the dosage.

Actually, meloxicam is an NSAID and it can cause your body to hold onto sodium and water. My doctor explained that this isn't fat gain but fluid retention, which can sometimes affect your blood pressure. He told me to monitor my weight and BP regularly while taking it.

My daughter was prescribed this for her chronic joint inflammation and we noticed her face looking a bit swollen. We immediately called her pediatrician, who adjusted her diet and monitored her closely. Please ask your doctor if they can suggest an alternative if it bothers you too much.

I completely understand why you are feeling anxious, it is so stressful to see your body change suddenly. I also kept googling side effects when I was prescribed meloxicam. It really is mostly water retention, so try to take a deep breath and have a calm chat with your doctor.

Haan bhai, is dava se thoda shareer me pani bhar jata hai aur vajan bada hua lagta hai. Tension mat lo, thoda kam namak khao aur ghar ka saada khana khao. Ek baar doctor sahab ko dikha loge toh mann bilkul halka ho jayega.

Look, don't stop the medicine on your own just because of some bloating. If the joint pain is less, the medicine is doing its job. Just cut down on pickles and papad to lower your salt, and discuss this with your doc on your next visit.

I panicked so much when my weight shot up by 2 kgs in just four days on this drug. But my doctor reassured me it is just temporary water weight. Sure enough, once my back pain settled and I stopped the tablets, the extra weight went away on its own.
