Does melatonin cause hair loss?

About six months ago, melatonin was something I started taking because I was really struggling with insomnia. Lately, I've noticed my hair seems to be thinning more than usual, and I'm losing more strands when I comb. Could the melatonin be related to this hair fall?

I was super worried about this too when I started taking it for my insomnia. Actually, melatonin doesn't cause hair loss; some studies even say it can help with hair growth! If you are losing hair, it might just be due to stress or low iron levels.

No, melatonin won't make your hair fall out. In fact, poor sleep and high stress are what damage your hair roots. Take the supplement if your doctor recommended it, and stop worrying about every little thing you read online.

Instead of buying expensive hair serums and guessing if melatonin is the cause, spend that money on a basic blood test for Vitamin D3, B12, and Thyroid. Usually, hair loss is just a deficiency that can be fixed with cheap generic tablets. It saves a lot of money in the long run.

Since I have high BP, I have to be very careful with any sleep pills. I checked with my doctor and he confirmed melatonin doesn't cause hair loss. Focus on keeping your BP in check, reducing salt, and sleeping naturally for better health.

There is no scientific correlation between melatonin usage and hair loss. In fact, topical melatonin is sometimes used to treat certain types of alopecia. However, since individual reactions vary, consulting a dermatologist or your general physician remains the best path forward.

In all my years of helping people on these forums, I have never seen a verified case of melatonin causing hair loss. It is a very safe supplement for short-term use. Keep eating a balanced diet with good proteins, and your hair will be fine.

According to my sleep tracker, my deep sleep improved after starting melatonin, and I haven't noticed any hair fall at all. Tracking your daily nutrition and stress score on an app can help you find the actual reason for hair loss. It's usually just stress!

I was reading some forums where people discussed this, and most experts say there is no link. It's crazy how much confusing information is out there. I think it's just a coincidence if someone loses hair while taking it.

I had a bad experience when I self-prescribed melatonin and faced hormonal imbalances, which indirectly led to temporary hair thinning. Please don't start these supplements on your own. It is always safer to consult a doctor first to find the right dosage.

I also thought melatonin was causing my hair fall, but when I got my thyroid checked, my TSH levels were completely off. If you are experiencing sudden hair thinning, please get a proper blood test done. Regular doctor follow-ups are essential for these issues.
