Does lyme disease cause hair loss?

I've been noticing a lot of hair fall recently and can't figure out the reason. Someone vaguely mentioned that some infections can lead to hair loss, including Lyme disease. Could Lyme disease really be a cause for hair thinning or loss?

Yes, the physical stress of any major infection like Lyme can trigger telogen effluvium, causing temporary hair shedding. Focus on your recovery and nutrition, it eventually grows back.

I had Lyme last year and noticed significant hair fall about two months into the illness. My doctor explained that severe infection stresses the body, leading to hair shedding. Once I completed my treatment and started taking multivitamins, the shedding stopped.

In my case, the hair loss was quite severe because my diagnosis was delayed for months. If you are noticing sudden clumps of hair falling out along with joint pain or fever, please get a proper medical evaluation immediately. Don't ignore these signs.

Severe infections put the body in survival mode, diverting nutrients away from hair and skin. Focus on getting enough quality protein, sleeping well, and letting your body heal from the infection first. Hair health will bounce back once your system is strong again.

Honestly, between the fever, body aches, and now hair fall, Lyme really knows how to ruin a good look! Don't panic, it is just a temporary phase because your body is fighting hard. Your hair will definitely make a comeback soon.

Before spending thousands on expensive hair oils or serums, it is better to get basic blood tests for thyroid, iron, and Lyme if suspected. Finding the actual root cause through a simple lab test will save you a lot of money in the long run.
