Does loss of estrogen cause hair loss?

As I'm nearing menopause, I've noticed my hair thinning quite a bit, and it's really bothering me. Someone mentioned that a drop in estrogen could be the cause. Does the loss of estrogen actually lead to hair loss?

I faced severe hair thinning during my menopause due to drop in estrogen. Along with my doctor's advice, I used to massage my scalp with lukewarm coconut oil mixed with fenugreek seeds. It really helped to reduce the shedding.

Yes, beta, when women get older and their monthly cycles stop, the hormones change and hair starts falling. Don't worry too much, try eating almonds and applying homemade amla oil, it will give strength to your hair.

Yes, estrogen keeps hair in the growing phase, so its loss definitely causes thinning. Getting your thyroid checked is also a good idea.

I ignored my heavy hair fall and fatigue during menopause, thinking it was just normal aging, but my hormonal imbalance got worse. Please don't wait like I did, go get a proper hormone panel test done and consult a gynecologist.

Hormone changes can affect your whole body, not just your hair. Before trying any random remedies, please get your hormone levels checked by a doctor. They can give you the right treatment to balance things safely.

When my estrogen dropped, my hair started falling out in clumps and I had terrible hot flashes. Self-managing didn't work and only delayed my recovery. I highly recommend seeing a doctor for proper hormone therapy options.
