Does losing weight help asthma?

I've had asthma since childhood, and sometimes it gets quite bad. My cousin, who also has asthma, told me that losing weight can make a big difference in managing symptoms. Is it true that shedding some kilos can help improve asthma?

Yes, it really does. When you carry extra weight, your chest and lungs have to work much harder to breathe. Just focus on simple things like reducing oily food and taking a daily evening walk, and you will see your breathing improve.

Yes, absolutely. Losing weight reduces inflammation in the body, which directly helps in lowering asthma attacks.

I used to get breathless so quickly and needed my inhaler constantly. After I lost about 7 kgs, my lung capacity improved so much and I rarely use my inhaler now. It's totally worth making the effort for your health.

Giving up my favorite butter chicken was hard, but my asthma was getting out of hand with my weight. Honestly, losing some weight made breathing so much easier, and now I can enjoy my cheat meals without gasping for air!

Yes, dear, reducing weight helps a lot with breathing. Along with eating lighter meals, try taking a spoonful of warm honey with ginger juice in the morning. But do continue with your inhalers as your doctor advised.
