Does losing weight help arthritis?

I've been suffering from arthritis in my knees for a few years now, and the pain can be quite bad. My doctor suggested losing some weight might help, but I'm wondering how much of a difference it actually makes. Does losing weight really help with arthritis symptoms?

Yes, absolutely! Losing even 2-3 kilos makes a huge difference to your knees and hips. It reduces the direct pressure on your joints, and you will find walking much easier. Try eating light, home-cooked dinners to start.

It definitely does! According to health trackers and research, every 1 kg of weight loss relieves about 4 kgs of pressure from your knees. Start tracking your daily steps and aim for a slight calorie deficit to see the change.

Bro, my mom had terrible knee pain due to arthritis and was struggling to walk. She lost around 6 kgs in 4 months just by controlling her diet, and now she walks without any support. It 100% works, so go for it.

My orthopedist at Apollo Hospital was very strict about this. He told me that losing weight is the most effective non-medical treatment for knee osteoarthritis. Do consult your doctor to plan a safe exercise routine that won't strain your joints.

Trust me, losing weight will give your joints a new lease on life. Don't go for any extreme diets, just make simple changes like cutting sugar and walking slowly. You will notice a big drop in your pain levels soon.

Yes, reducing weight helps immensely. Along with light eating, I used to drink warm water with ginger and turmeric every morning to help with inflammation. Please try to reduce weight gradually, it will give your knees a lot of relief.

I used to panic thinking my joint pain would never go away and I'd end up in a wheelchair. But my doctor explained how weight acts like a heavy load on the joints. Once I lost about 5 kgs, the pain drastically reduced and became totally manageable.
