Does loose skin ever go away after weight loss?

After losing almost 20 kgs, I have a lot of loose skin, especially around my belly. I'm trying to be patient, but I'm wondering if this loose skin goes away naturally over time. Or will it always be there?

For me, after losing 25 kgs, the loose skin on my belly didn't completely go away, but it got much less noticeable after about 18 months. I just kept up my walking and normal home food.

Skin elasticity depends heavily on age, genetics, and how long you carried the extra weight. It will shrink a bit over 1 to 2 years, but for massive weight loss, some residual skin is totally normal.

Be kind to your body; it has gone through a beautiful transformation. The loose skin is just a physical change, keep a positive mindset and give your body the time it needs to heal naturally.

Don't spend heavily on high-end treatments. Simple strength exercises at home with basic water bottles or light dumbbells can help firm your muscles and improve the appearance of loose skin over time.

Honestly, a little bit of loose skin is way better than carrying all that unhealthy weight. Just start hit the gym and build some muscle to fill out that space.

I tracked my measurements and body fat percentage on my smart scale for a year post-loss. While the skin did tighten slightly as my body fat dropped further, extreme loose skin usually remains unless surgically corrected.

If it is causing rashes or major discomfort, please consult a plastic surgeon at a reputed hospital. They can evaluate the skin's elasticity and give you the best professional advice on whether you need a lift procedure.
