Does longer hair cause dandruff?

I've been growing my hair out and lately, I've noticed a lot more dandruff than before. My friend said it's because longer hair traps more moisture and causes dandruff. Is there a connection between having long hair and getting dandruff?

Actually, hair length has nothing to do with dandruff, yaar. It's just that long hair makes it harder to wash the scalp properly, so oil builds up.

In my youth, I had hair down to my knees and never had dandruff. It only happens when you don't clean the scalp regularly or use too much heavy oil.

Nope, not at all! Just make sure you wash your scalp well and dry it properly. Wet scalps can breed fungus, so don't tie up wet hair! 😊

Dandruff is due to dryness or excess oil on the skin of the head. You can apply a little curd on the scalp before washing, it helps soothe the dryness naturally.

I also started getting dandruff after growing my hair long. Does using a mild anti-dandruff shampoo twice a week help, or will it dry out my long hair too much?

I totally get it, it's so frustrating to see those flakes when you have beautiful long hair. But don't worry, the length isn't causing it; it's usually just dry scalp or a minor fungal thing.
