Does loestrin cause weight gain?

My gynaecologist suggested I start on Loestrin for my PCOD. I'm already struggling with my weight, so I'm worried about any side effects. Does this particular birth control pill typically lead to weight gain?

If you are worried about weight, better to get your thyroid and hormone levels checked first before starting. Those tests can cost around 1500 to 2000 rupees in private labs, but it saves you money on wrong treatments later. Plan your budget for these diagnostics first.

A lot of girls in our community ask this. Some water retention is very common in the first two months when you start Loestrin, which feels like weight gain. Just keep an eye on your salt intake and give your body some time to settle down.

I can only tell you what happened with me. When I was on Loestrin, I did notice about 2 kg of weight gain in the beginning, mostly just bloating. It stabilized after three months once my body adjusted to the hormones.

While birth control pills can cause mild fluid retention or changes in appetite, actual fat gain isn't very common. Since everyone reacts differently to hormonal formulations, your gynecologist is the best person to guide you and prescribe an alternative if this one doesn't suit you.

Oh god, I spent hours reading forums about this when my doctor suggested it. I was so scared of waking up bloated every day. But please try not to stress too much, sometimes our anxiety makes us feel worse; just keep a daily track and see how you feel.
