Does lisinopril cause weight gain?

My father takes lisinopril for his BP, and he's gained quite a bit of weight since starting it. We're trying to figure out why. Does lisinopril cause weight gain?

Actually, my doctor just prescribed this medicine to me yesterday and I am a bit scared to start it. Does it really make you gain weight fast? If anyone else has been taking it for a few months, did you notice any bloating or scale changes?

Yaar, my uncle is on it and he didn't put on any weight at all. Actually, sometimes we just blame the medicine when our weekend food ordering goes a bit out of control. Talk to your doc if you really feel there is sudden swelling or water retention.

Generally speaking, lisinopril doesn't directly cause fat gain. But if you feel you are holding water or feeling sluggish, tracking your daily sodium intake and keeping up with regular evening walks can help a lot. Just maintain a clean home-cooked diet and don't skip your workouts.

I have been taking this tablet for almost eight years now, beta. My weight has remained exactly the same throughout, only fluctuating when I eat too many sweets during festival season. Don't worry about weight gain, just take your dose on time.

As a health professional, I can tell you lisinopril is not known to cause active fat accumulation. However, if you notice rapid weight gain over just two or three days, it could be fluid retention, which needs to be reported to your doctor immediately. Otherwise, it is quite a safe and standard medicine.

Even I panicked and checked the weight scale daily when I started this medicine last year, thinking my face looked bloated. But it was all just in my head because of Google searches. My weight is perfectly normal now and my BP is also under control.
