Does lexapro make your hair fall out?

I'm thinking about starting Lexapro, but I'm already experiencing some hair thinning. Does Lexapro make your hair fall out, or is that not a common side effect?

I was too busy enjoying my post-anxiety meals to notice any extra hair on my pillow, honestly! While it is a very rare side effect, most people don't face severe hair loss with Lexapro. Just keep eating a good diet with lots of protein and you should be fine.

Sometimes what we think is drug-induced hair loss is actually an underlying thyroid issue triggered by stress. Before blaming Lexapro, get a routine thyroid profile done to make sure your T3, T4, and TSH levels are normal. Keep your doctor updated on any changes.

My college-going daughter started shedding hair heavily a month after starting Lexapro. We panicked, but our family doctor explained it was just a temporary stress response from the body adjusting to the drug. We started giving her almonds and a multivitamin, and her hair is back to normal now.

While hair loss is listed as a rare potential side effect of SSRIs, it can also be a sign of nutritional deficiencies or hormonal imbalance. If you are experiencing sudden, heavy hair fall, please consult your doctor instead of trying to self-manage it.

I literally counted every single hair strand on my comb when I started Lexapro because I was so paranoid about going bald. But honestly, the shedding was very minor and stopped after a month. Try not to stress too much, because stress itself causes more hair fall!

Before you spend thousands on hair growth serums, go for a simple serum ferritin and vitamin D3 test. Low iron is often the real culprit behind hair fall during stressful times. Getting these basic tests done will save you a lot of money and give you a clear answer.

If you are seeing a bit of hair fall after starting this medicine, don't rush to buy expensive cosmetic treatments. Just switch to a mild baby shampoo and ensure you are eating a bowl of curd and some soaked almonds daily. It is a simple, workable way to support your hair while your body adjusts.

Yes, it can cause mild, temporary hair shedding in rare cases. It usually stops once your body gets used to the medicine.

I agree that the hair fall is usually very temporary. Taking a basic biotin supplement under your doctor's guidance can really help speed up recovery.

Humare yahan ek babu ko ye dawa chal rahi thi, unhone bataya ki thode din baal jhade par fir thik ho gaye. Aap bilkul chinta mat kijiye, sar pe thoda nariyal tel lagaiye aur doctor ki salah lijiye.
