Does less sleep cause weight gain?

These days, I'm barely getting 5-6 hours of sleep because of work deadlines. I've also noticed I'm gaining weight, which is unusual for me. Can not sleeping enough actually lead to weight gain?

Haan beta, humare yahan kehte hain ki nind puri na ho toh sharir thik se kaam nahi karta. When we don't sleep well, we end up eating more during the day out of tiredness, which easily increases weight. Please sleep on time and take care of your health.

You will find a lot of articles online linking sleep and weight gain, but don't blindly trust everything you read. While poor sleep can disturb your hormones, actual weight gain depends on your total calorie intake and activity level. If you are experiencing sudden weight changes, verify with a doctor instead of guessing.

It definitely does. Less sleep increases cortisol and ghrelin, the hunger hormone, which makes you crave junk food the next day. If you are working out hard but not sleeping 7-8 hours, your recovery and fat loss will slow down significantly.

I went through a phase of terrible insomnia last year, and seeing the scale go up week after week was so emotionally draining. I felt so guilty, thinking I was just lazy, but sleep deprivation literally messes up your brain's appetite control. Please be kind to yourself and try to focus on resting first.

I totally get it, when you are sleep-deprived and tired, the last thing you want to worry about is weight gain. It is so tough when your body feels exhausted and you start craving high-calorie comfort foods. Try to focus on small steps, like setting a winding-down routine at night, and take it easy.

Research shows that sleep deprivation affects glucose metabolism and thyroid hormones, which can lead to gradual weight gain. However, every individual's metabolic response is different. Consulting a medical professional or endocrinologist is the best way to understand your specific health situation.

Yes beta, lack of sleep is one of the main reasons for modern health problems and weight gain. When our body doesn't get rest, it stores more fat and we feel hungry all the time. Try drinking some warm milk before bed and keeping your phone away at night.

Actually, it is very true, yaar. Whenever I sleep late because of work, I end up ordering late-night biryani or maggi, which directly hits my weight. Sleep loss just ruins your metabolism and self-control, so try to fix your sleep schedule first.

I completely understand how anxious you must feel seeing your weight change while struggling with sleep. I used to stay awake worrying about my health, which only made my sleep worse and caused more weight gain. It's a stressful cycle, but starting with a doctor's visit really helped calm my mind.

Before you spend money on expensive fat burners or diet programs, check your sleep habits. Getting 8 hours of sleep is absolutely free and is the most practical way to support your metabolism. If that doesn't work, plan for a basic thyroid and hormone blood test which is quite affordable.
