Does lamotrigine make your hair fall out?

Taking lamotrigine for a while now to manage my seizures, I've noticed my hair thinning quite a bit over the last few months. I'm finding a lot more hair on my pillow and in the shower drain. Does lamotrigine commonly cause hair fall?

Some people do experience mild hair shedding on this. I suggest incorporating more protein-rich vegetarian foods like almonds, walnuts, and sprouts into your diet to support your hair health from within.

Do not let the fear of hair loss weigh heavily on your heart. Keep your mind peaceful and positive, take your medicine as prescribed, and trust that your body has its own beautiful way of balancing itself.

Honestly, I was so scared of going bald when I started this medicine. But it's been six months and my hair is totally fine, so don't believe every scary story you read online.

I have seen many people take these long-term treatments over the years. Even if there is some initial hair thinning, it almost always settles down once the body gets used to the medication, so do not worry.

Hair fall can be caused by many things, including thyroid issues which often mimic drug side effects. I recommend getting your TSH levels checked along with your routine doctor follow-up to find the real culprit.

I panicked completely when I saw more hair than usual in the shower after starting lamotrigine. But my dermatologist reassured me it was just a temporary phase, and indeed, it stopped completely in a few weeks.
