Does lamictal cause weight gain?

On Lamictal for about six months for my bipolar disorder, I've noticed I'm steadily gaining weight since starting it. I'm trying to watch my diet, but it's still going up. Does Lamictal commonly cause weight gain as a side effect?

Honestly, Lamictal is known to be pretty weight-neutral compared to other mood stabilizers that turn you into a round potato! You might gain a little if you sit on the couch all day, but otherwise, you should be totally fine.

These modern English medicines sometimes disturb the body's natural balance. Along with your regular doses, try drinking warm water with lemon in the morning and eat light, home-cooked food to keep your digestion active and weight in check.

My doctor just prescribed me Lamictal today and I am a bit scared about weight changes. Did any of you experience an increase in sweet cravings after starting it? I would really appreciate any guidance.

I am barely sleeping these days, so my weight is all over the place anyway! But my friend on Lamictal actually didn't gain weight at all. Just don't do midnight kitchen raids like me and you will be safe.

Don't blindly trust people online telling you to stop your psychiatric meds because of weight fears. Lamictal is generally weight-neutral, but you must consult your psychiatrist to understand how it interacts with your body.

I took this medication for a few years in my late 40s. It did not cause any noticeable weight gain for me. As long as you stay active and keep your mind calm, your weight should remain steady.

Clinical data suggests Lamictal is one of the few weight-neutral options in its class. However, individual metabolic responses can vary. If you notice any sudden weight changes, it is best to discuss them with your physician.

My mother advised me to drink buttermilk to keep my body cool while taking these strong medicines. However, I kept checking in with my doctor regularly, and he assured me Lamictal won't cause weight gain. Trust your physician's guidance.

I have been on this drug for three years. It doesn't cause weight gain directly, but if you feel slightly fatigued, you might move less. My tip is to set a daily step goal of 8,000 steps to counteract any sluggishness.

I developed a mild skin rash and felt very bloated when I first took it, so my doctor had to adjust the dosage very slowly. Please be extremely careful with this medicine and report any side effects to your doctor immediately.

Actually yaar, I was super paranoid about this too when my doc prescribed it. But honestly, it is quite weight-neutral. Just don't stress and keep eating your regular ghar ka khana, you'll be totally fine.

Managing weight on any long-term medication requires regular physical movement. Since I have high BP, I make sure to walk 45 minutes daily and get my blood pressure and weight checked weekly. It keeps everything under control.

I don't have time for complex diet plans, so I just track my basic meals. Lamictal didn't affect my weight at all during my busy work schedules. Just keep a check on portion sizes and you will be fine.
