Does lactobacillus acidophilus cause weight gain?

My doctor suggested I take a probiotic with lactobacillus acidophilus for my digestion issues. While my digestion is better, I've also noticed a bit of weight gain since I started it, even though my diet hasn't really changed. Can this probiotic actually cause weight gain?

As a big foodie, I actually take this probiotic to keep my gut happy after eating spicy street food! It has never caused me any weight gain. If anything, a better gut means less bloating and better digestion, so don't worry about gaining weight.

Not at all, lactobacillus acidophilus is just a healthy gut bacterium. It actually helps improve nutrient absorption and can support your fitness goals. Just keep your daily workout consistent and eat a balanced diet, this probiotic won't make you fat.

My health tracker app shows my digestion scores improved significantly after I started taking probiotics. There is no data linking lactobacillus to weight gain; in fact, healthy gut flora is associated with better weight management. It's safe to include in your routine.

I have been using curd and probiotic supplements containing lactobacillus for years to manage my IBS. It only improves bowel movements and reduces acidity, it doesn't add any extra kilos. You can take it without any hesitation.

When my doctor at Apollo prescribed this probiotic for my stomach issues, I specifically asked him about weight side effects. He clearly told me that it does not cause weight gain. If you are still concerned, it is best to ask your own doctor during your next visit.

If simple curd bacteria could make us gain weight, half of India would be in trouble by now! Relax, it's just good bacteria helping your tummy digest food, not adding fat to your waistline.
