Does lack of sleep cause weight gain?

After my baby was born, I haven't been able to get a proper night's sleep, always waking up multiple times. I've also found it really hard to lose the baby weight, and in fact, I think I've put on a little more. Is it true that not sleeping enough can directly lead to weight gain?

I faced this exact same issue last year when my sleep schedule went completely haywire. Lack of sleep makes you crave deep-fried food and sweets late at night, which is the main culprit. Once I fixed my 11 PM to 7 AM routine, my weight automatically stabilized without any crash dieting.

Honestly yes, it does affect your metabolism a lot. Before spending thousands on expensive thyroid or hormone tests, just try correcting your sleep cycle first for a month. It costs nothing to sleep on time and you will save so much on unnecessary hospital visits.

Sleep is the natural way our body heals and finds its balance every night. When we deny ourselves this rest, the body goes out of sync and starts storing stress as physical weight. Stay positive, give yourself some quiet time before bed, and let your body heal naturally.

Oh absolutely, I feel you on this! Whenever I pull late-nighters for office work, I bloating starts the very next day. Our body gets stressed and starts holding onto water and fat. Just try to keep your phone away an hour before bed, it actually works wonders.

Actually even I was reading up on this because I am barely sleeping 5 hours and gaining weight. It is so scary because stress hormones like cortisol go up when we sleep less. Please don't stress too much though, maybe we both just need to set a strict bedtime routine.
