Does lack of estrogen cause weight gain?

I'm going through menopause and dealing with a lot of changes, including inexplicable weight gain around my tummy. My doctor mentioned hormonal shifts. Does lack of estrogen cause weight gain during this period, or is it something else entirely?

Yes, absolutely. Lower estrogen levels, especially during menopause, make the body store more fat, especially around the belly. It also slows down your metabolism. Try to focus on calcium-rich foods and ask your doctor if you need any hormonal support.

I went through early menopause and gained 6 kgs in no time because of low estrogen. I felt so hopeless, but once my doctor helped me balance my hormones and I adjusted my routine, the weight slowly started going away. Don't lose hope, it gets better!

It definitely does, but we can manage it with the right diet. I started including phytoestrogen-rich foods like flaxseeds, soy milk, and tofu in my daily vegetarian meals. It really helped balance my system and kept my sudden weight gain under control.

Haan, bilkul hota hai weight gain, especially pet ke paas fat jama hone lagta hai. Estrogen level drop hone se hamara metabolism hi slow ho jata hai, na. Apne gynaecologist se consult karo, wo koi simple solution bata denge.

I completely understand how scary and frustrating it is to see your weight go up for no reason, I used to cry looking in the mirror. It is indeed due to low estrogen levels which mess up our fat storage. Please be kind to yourself, it is a hormonal issue, not your fault.

Ah, the joys of getting older! First it is mood swings, then hot flashes, and now this weight gain. Low estrogen basically makes you look at a biscuit and gain a kilo. But seriously, a quick visit to the gynaecologist helps manage these lovely symptoms.

My aunt was talking about this the other day, she was so annoyed about her waist size changing. It's crazy how much hormones control our bodies! Definitely get it checked by a doc instead of trying weird crash diets.

Oh, that explains my sudden intense cravings for sweets and carbs! When estrogen drops, it really messes with our hunger hormones. I try to swap my heavy desserts with sweet curd or fruits now, otherwise this weight gain is not going to stop!

While estrogen drops do make weight gain easier, you can fight back with strength training and regular walks. Building some muscle helps boost that slow metabolism. Just make sure to get your doctor's clearance before starting any intense workout routine.

Yes, hormonal changes shift where your body stores fat. To counter this, focus on eating high protein to preserve muscle and doing regular resistance training. You don't have to starve yourself, just lift some weights and eat clean.

Yes, it is true that low estrogen can cause weight gain around the waist. Please don't stress too much about it. Just try to take small, healthy meals and get some gentle rest when you feel tired.

My mom was struggling with this exact thing last year. Her weight was going up and she felt very low, but the doctor explained it was just her estrogen levels dropping. Getting her thyroid and hormone levels checked really helped her get the right treatment.
