Does lack of b12 cause weight gain?

I've been feeling unusually tired lately and have also noticed some weight gain, which is odd for me. A friend suggested it might be a vitamin deficiency. Does lack of B12 cause weight gain? I'm wondering if I should get tested.

Don't jump to conclusions reading articles on the internet. While B12 deficiency causes fatigue and makes you less active, it doesn't directly cause weight gain. Go to a proper lab, get a serum B12 test, and let a doctor prescribe the correct supplement dose if you are actually deficient.

Actually, when your B12 is low, you feel extremely tired and weak, so you move less and eat more comfort food. That is usually why people gain weight. If your lab reports show a deficiency, a simple course of B12 tablets or injections from your doctor will fix your energy levels quickly.

I had both B12 deficiency and thyroid issues, and both caused terrible weight gain and fatigue. Sometimes we keep blaming one thing when something else is also wrong. Please get a complete thyroid profile along with your B12 levels tested, and consult an endocrinologist.

My health tracker showed my daily active calories dropped significantly because I was always feeling too lazy to walk. Turned out my B12 was super low! Once I started taking the supplements my doctor gave, my energy went up, and my weight started coming back down. Keep track of your daily steps too!

My doctor explained that B12 is crucial for fat and carbohydrate metabolism. When you are deficient, your body cannot convert food into energy efficiently, which can contribute to weight gain and muscle weakness. He put me on a weekly supplement and my sluggishness is finally gone.
