Does keppra cause weight gain?

My doctor prescribed Keppra for my epilepsy last year. Since then, I feel like I've gained some weight and my clothes are fitting tighter. Is weight gain a common side effect of this medication?

Actually, Keppra usually doesn't cause weight gain like other seizure meds, but everyone's body is different yaar. Some people feel more hungry or bloated. Better is to check with your doctor once if you feel you are putting on weight suddenly.

My doctor just prescribed Keppra to me last week and I am also very worried about weight changes. Does this happen to everyone who takes it, or is it very rare? If anyone has been on it for long, please share your experience.

If you feel you are gaining weight after starting the tablet, just keep a simple check on your daily diet and avoid fried foods. Sometimes we eat more due to stress. Try to go for a 30-minute walk daily and consult your doctor to see if the medicine is the real cause.

I started Keppra two months ago and my weight has gone up by 3 kgs already. I am really stressed about this now. Has anyone else experienced this issue, or is it just because of my low physical activity lately?

Keppra isn't majorly linked to weight gain, but it can cause fatigue which might make you less active. Focus on clean eating and make sure you get some movement in daily, even if it is just basic home workouts. Keep tracking your calories and talk to your neuro if the weight keeps rising.
