Does isosorbide cause weight gain?

My father takes Isosorbide for his heart condition. We've noticed he's put on some weight recently, and we're wondering if his medication could be contributing to it.

I have been taking isosorbide for my chest pain, yaar. Actually, it doesn't cause any direct weight gain as such. But it can make you feel a bit dizzy or tired, so you might end up sitting more and doing less physical activity.

Isosorbide is a serious heart medication, not a supplement you can play around with. Don't trust random internet comments claiming it causes weight gain or bloating. Talk to your cardiologist directly to understand its actual side effects.

It is so exhausting dealing with heart issues and then worrying about weight gain on top of it. I felt really low when my body started feeling heavy and bloated after starting this medicine. Your worries are completely valid, it is a tough journey.

I always prefer natural ways to keep blood pressure down like garlic and walking, but for angina, you must take isosorbide if prescribed. If you feel bloated, try drinking warm fennel water. But if you have sudden swelling or breathlessness, see your doctor immediately.

Listen, isosorbide is for your heart and saving your life is much more important than a little weight gain. Don't even think of stopping this medicine on your own. If you feel heavy, just reduce your salt intake and consult your doctor.

I am so tired from taking care of my health and working night shifts that I don't even remember if my weight changed. But honestly, isosorbide just keeps my chest pain away, and that's enough for me to sleep peacefully when I actually can.

With all these daily pills, my stomach has its own climate change going on! Isosorbide gives me mild headaches but no weight gain thankfully. Just try to survive the side effects with a smile, what else can we do?

Isosorbide is a nitrate vasodilator, meaning it relaxes blood vessels. It doesn't alter your metabolism or cause fat accumulation. If you are experiencing weight gain, it might be due to water retention, which you should definitely report to your doctor.

My grandfather takes isosorbide for his heart condition. He hasn't put on any weight at all since starting it. He just goes for his normal slow walks every evening and eats normal home food.

Please monitor your weight closely. I had sudden water retention and swelling in my ankles after starting heart meds, which was a sign of worsening heart function. If you gain weight very quickly in 2-3 days, go to the hospital immediately.

Sometimes we blame new medicines for weight gain when it could be something else like thyroid or kidney issues. Since you are on heart medication, regular blood and kidney function tests are highly recommended. Always keep your doctor in the loop.

Don't worry, the pill itself has zero calories! Just keep an eye on those extra biscuits you might be having with tea while resting. It's usually the snacks that cause weight gain, not the isosorbide.
