Does irbesartan cause weight gain?

My doctor recently put me on Irbesartan for my high blood pressure. I'm concerned about gaining weight, as I've heard some BP medicines can have that side effect.

Our bodies sometimes respond to healing medicines by holding a little water. Do not let this worry trouble your mind, just focus on keeping your thoughts peaceful. Eat simple satvik food and accept this phase of healing with gratitude.

Since I already have PCOS, I am very sensitive to any medication that might cause weight gain. When my doctor suggested irbesartan for my high BP, I asked her specifically and she said it is very weight-friendly. I haven't faced any weight fluctuations so far.

I take this for blood pressure along with my regular diabetes medicines. I haven't seen any weight gain from irbesartan, but I am very strict about my low-carb diet. Keep checking your sugar and salt intake regularly, that is more important.

I have been taking BP medicines for twenty years now. In my experience, weight only increases if we stop being active and blame the medicines. Eat light, walk daily, and let the medicine do its job of keeping your BP safe.

Irbesartan doesn't actually cause direct fat gain, yaar. But sometimes it can make you feel a bit tired, which might reduce your daily movement. If you keep your daily activity normal, then weight gain shouldn't be an issue.

Medicines like irbesartan don't affect your metabolism to cause fat gain. Just focus on your daily caloric intake and try to fit in some strength training or cardio. If you stay consistent with your workouts, your weight will stay perfectly fine.

If you notice rapid weight gain of 2-3 kgs within a few days, please contact your doctor immediately. I once ignored sudden weight gain while on BP pills thinking it was normal, but it was actually fluid retention affecting my kidneys. Always get checked.

Hum toh yeh dabaai pichle ek saal se kha rahe hain, koi vajan nahi badha humara. Aap bilkul chinta mat kijiye, bas ghar ka shudh khana khaiye aur subah thoda ghoomne jaiye. Sab theek rahega.

I've been on irbesartan for about six months now. Didn't gain even a single kg because of it. My weight only goes up when I eat junk food and skip my runs. So you can take it without worrying about getting fat.

I also panicked when my weight fluctuated by a kilo in the first week of starting this pill. But my doc assured me it is just mild water weight and not actual fat. It went back to normal in a couple of weeks, so please relax.

Please don't worry about weight gain and stop your BP medicine. Irbesartan is a very safe drug and doesn't usually cause weight issues. If you notice sudden swelling or puffiness in your ankles, just show it to your doctor to rule out water retention.
