Does irbesartan cause hair loss?

My blood pressure medicine was recently changed to Irbesartan. Since then, I've noticed a lot more hair falling out when I comb. I'm worried about this, so I wanted to ask if Irbesartan causes hair loss.

I noticed some hair thinning after starting it too. Mentioning it to your cardiologist during the next visit is the best thing to do.

I track my health vitals and even my hair density using an app. While hair fall isn't a very common side effect listed for irbesartan, any blood pressure medication can sometimes trigger telogen effluvium. Maybe track your daily water intake and nutrition on an app to rule out other deficiencies.

My doctor told me that ARBs like irbesartan very rarely cause hair loss compared to beta-blockers. He said if there is hair fall, it might just be the body reacting to the stress of high blood pressure itself. It's better to get thyroid and iron levels checked before blaming the pill.

I have been taking irbesartan for my high BP for two years now and haven't faced any major hair loss. Along with the medicine, I make sure to do low-sodium diet and keep checking my BP at home. Please don't stop the medicine without asking your doctor, as high BP is much more dangerous.

Honestly, hair health is highly dependent on your protein intake and blood circulation. If you're on BP meds like irbesartan, keep active with daily cardio or gym workouts to improve blood flow. Also, ensure you are getting enough biotin and zinc in your daily diet.

At this age, with BP, joints pain, and graying hair, I don't even know if my hair is falling due to irbesartan or just life! Jokes aside, my doctor said it's highly unlikely to be the medicine. Don't worry, a few strands here and there is just part of the package now.

You are not alone in worrying about this, I also had the same doubt when I started my BP pills. It is best to clarify with your physician once.

Between back-to-back office meetings, I had no time to track these side effects, but my cardiologist cleared this doubt. He said irbesartan hair loss is extremely rare. Don't waste time self-diagnosing online; just book a quick online consultation with your doctor to be sure.

Hey, don't stress too much about this! Stressing will actually make your hair fall way faster than any blood pressure pill ever will. Just have your coconut water, eat healthy, and if it still bothers you, ask your doc to change the brand.

Actually, my dad is on irbesartan and he didn't face any hair fall issue at all, yaar. Maybe it depends from person to person. If you are experiencing sudden hair thinning, just talk to your doctor and ask if there is an alternative.

I barely sleep 5 hours a night because of my work shifts, so my hair falls out just looking at my laptop screen! I doubt your irbesartan is doing it. Try getting a solid 8 hours of sleep first and see if the hair fall stops.

I feel keeping your cardiovascular health in top shape is key when on BP meds. If your doctor allows, start with 45 minutes of brisk walking every morning. It reduces stress and improves scalp circulation, which automatically helps control hair fall.
