Does hydrochlorothiazide cause hair loss?

My doctor prescribed hydrochlorothiazide for my high blood pressure a few months ago. I've noticed my hair is falling out more than usual recently, and I'm a bit worried. Could this medication be the reason for my hair loss?

Hey, don't stress about this. While some people do experience mild thinning on diuretics, it is usually temporary. Drink enough water to stay hydrated and speak to your doctor if it persists.

Hair loss is so complicated and can be linked to hormonal shifts or nutrient loss from blood pressure pills. I suggest speaking to your doctor to rule out any other internal imbalances.

I would be so worried if my hair started falling out because of my BP meds! Maybe you can ask your doctor if you can switch to another tablet so you don't have to stress about it daily?

I ignored my sudden hair fall and fatigue for months thinking it was just stress, but it was actually a severe zinc deficiency caused by the diuretic. Please get your routine blood work done soon.

People on the internet will blame everything on one pill. Go to a good dermatologist or your general doctor to find the real scientific reason behind your hair fall.

At my age, I have seen many friends face minor hair thinning with various medications. It is nothing to fear, just focus on a wholesome diet with amla and curry leaves, and let the doctor guide you.
