Does hormone replacement cause weight gain?

I'm about to start hormone replacement therapy for my menopausal symptoms, but I'm a bit nervous about potential side effects. I've heard some women gain weight on HRT. Does hormone replacement generally cause weight gain?

My aunts told me that drinking herbal teas would stop any weight gain from hormone therapy, which is peaceful but not fully true. My doctor explained that hormone replacement can redistribute body fat, especially around the belly. I trust his clinic advice and focus on light walks.

Haan na, weight gain can happen with hormone replacement because of bloating and water retention. It makes us feel so heavy and uncomfortable, ho na. But don't worry, once the body adjusts, it usually settles down.

If you are worried about weight gain, plan your budget for regular thyroid and sugar tests which cost around 800 rupees. Sometimes the weight is due to these other issues, not just the hormone therapy. Tracking this practically will save you doctor visit fees later.

When my mother started hormone replacement, she gained some weight and felt really low about it. I helped her start a basic routine of eating clean home-cooked food and doing morning walks, and she is feeling much better now. It just takes some lifestyle changes.

Look, hormone therapy might cause some water retention or increase your appetite. But blaming the medicine entirely won't help. You still have to manage your daily diet and walk regularly to keep the weight in check.
