Does high sodium cause weight gain?

I often feel very bloated and heavier after eating salty foods, like chaat or processed snacks. Does high sodium intake actually cause weight gain, or is it just temporary water retention?

I didn't know salt could affect weight. Does eating too many pickles also cause this kind of weight gain, or is it only from processed food? I am a bit confused.

I totally understand how stressful it is when the weighing scale suddenly jumps up. Please don't worry, high sodium mostly causes temporary water retention, not actual fat. Take a deep breath, it is easily manageable.

I get so anxious whenever I eat restaurant food because of the salt levels! High sodium makes the body hold onto water, which shows up as extra weight the next day. Drink plenty of water to help flush it out.

Yes, whenever I eat high-sodium foods like instant noodles or chips, my face and fingers feel so bloated the next morning. It is usually just water weight. Drinking coconut water really helps me debloat.

Don't stress too much if the scale fluctuates by a kilo or two. It is usually just the salt from yesterday's dinner. Eat fresh fruits like bananas, which are high in potassium, to help balance it out.

I logged my meals on an app and realized my sodium intake was double the recommended limit due to packaged sauces. High sodium causes water weight retention. Try tracking your meals to find the hidden salt.

Bro, after eating midnight hostel maggi, my face looks so puffy in the morning. It is definitely the massive sodium content. It goes away in a day if you drink enough water and sweat it out.

No need to buy fancy low-sodium salts from the market. Just reduce the amount of pickles and papad we eat daily. Cooking with fresh spices instead of ready-mix masalas solves half the problem.

I used to eat a lot of salty snacks and always felt heavy and bloated. Once I cut down on processed foods and drank more water, I lost 3 kgs of water weight in just two weeks. It makes a real difference.

Sodium holds water in your vascular system, which can mimic weight gain. If your physician has cleared you, try a good cardio session or a 45-minute brisk walk. Sweating helps release that excess sodium and fluid.
