Does high blood sugar cause weight gain?

I was recently told my blood sugar levels are on the higher side. I'm also finding it hard to manage my weight. Is there a connection, and does high blood sugar cause weight gain?

Let us be direct: high blood sugar means your body isn't processing insulin correctly, which leads to fat storage, especially around the belly. If your sugar is high, you will gain weight unless you fix your nutrition and start moving. Stop looking for excuses and get your diet in order.

In my 30 years of dealing with diabetes, I have seen that high sugar makes you feel hungry all the time, so you end up eating more and gaining weight. But don't worry, once you get your sugar under control with the right medicines and a walk after meals, your weight will also settle down.

High blood sugar levels lead to high insulin, which is a fat-storage hormone. To break this cycle, try incorporating resistance training thrice a week and focus on eating complex carbs with plenty of fiber. It helps sensitize your body to insulin, naturally keeping both sugar and weight down.

I have been struggling with sudden weight gain around my waist, and my recent test showed high fasting sugar. I am really stressed that I won't be able to lose this weight now. Has anyone else managed to lose weight successfully after getting their high sugar under control?

My elders always said that eating traditional ragi mudde would cure my high sugar and weight gain overnight. While those foods are healthy, I realized trusting my doctor's treatment plan and taking regular HbA1c tests was the real key to managing my blood sugar and weight safely.

I completely panicked when my weight shot up along with my fasting sugar numbers, thinking my health was ruined. But my doctor assured me it is just a metabolic phase. Once we adjusted my diet and I started sleeping on time, my sugar levels came down and the extra weight dropped off naturally.
