Does head and shoulders make your hair fall out?

I've been using Head & Shoulders for my scalp for a few months now. Lately, I'm noticing a lot more hair in my drain after showering. Could this shampoo be causing my hair to fall out?

I used to think this too because every time I washed with it, my bathroom drain was full of hair. But actually, dandruff itself weakens the hair roots and causes shedding, not the shampoo. Once my dandruff cleared up, the hair fall stopped on its own.

Generally speaking, the active ingredients like zinc pyrithione do not cause hair loss directly. However, if you are allergic to any chemical in it, your scalp can get inflamed and cause temporary shedding. If you notice redness or severe itching, stop using it immediately.

I agree with others that the shampoo itself doesn't cause baldness. Just make sure you wash it out thoroughly with water so no residue is left on the scalp.

Oh I totally panicked last year because I saw clumps of hair in the shower after using it. But then I read that we naturally lose about 100 strands a day, and since I was washing my hair less often to avoid dryness, it just accumulated. It is totally normal, don't worry.

It is so stressful to watch your hair fall out, and every wash day feels like a nightmare. I went through this panic too and kept blaming my shampoo. It turned out my hair fall was due to stress and low iron levels, so try to look at other health factors too.

Honestly bro, I have been using it for three years now and my hairline is exactly where it was. It dries out the hair a bit, yes, but it does not make it fall out. Just use a normal conditioner or oil your hair sometimes to keep it soft.
