Does hctz cause hair loss?

Since starting my new blood pressure medicine, HCTZ, I've noticed a lot more hair falling out. My comb is full every day. I'm worried if this medicine is actually the reason for my hair loss.

Please don't panic and stop your blood pressure medication based on what people write online. While some claim HCTZ causes hair thinning, it is quite rare. You must verify this directly with your cardiologist before making any changes to your prescription.

If you are noticing hair fall after starting HCTZ, it could also be due to nutritional gaps or stress. Try eating a handful of soaked almonds and curry leaves daily, which are cheap and great for hair. But please don't stop the medicine without asking your doctor first.

Chemical medicines can sometimes heat up the body and affect our hair roots. Doing gentle pranayama like Anulom Vilom daily helps calm the nervous system and improves blood circulation to the scalp. Take care of your mind along with your physical body.

I thought my blood pressure pills were causing my hair loss, but a routine blood checkup revealed my thyroid levels were completely off. Uncontrolled thyroid is a major cause of hair fall. Please get your thyroid and iron levels tested before blaming HCTZ.

I absolutely panicked when I saw hair fall after starting my BP meds last year and wanted to stop taking them immediately. But my doctor reassured me, and after a few weeks, the shedding stopped on its own once my body adjusted. Just give it a little time.

Please don't ignore these side effects or self-medicate to stop hair loss. I once ignored constant hair thinning and fatigue, thinking it was just stress, and ended up with severe systemic issues. Get a proper clinical evaluation to find the real root cause.

I have been taking HCTZ for my high blood pressure for almost fifteen years now. In my experience, I didn't face any major hair loss because of it, just the usual thinning that comes with old age. Don't worry too much, controlling your blood pressure is far more important.

I started HCTZ two months ago and my brush is suddenly full of hair every single morning. I am getting really stressed about going bald. Has anyone else experienced this exact issue after starting this specific BP pill?

HCTZ is a diuretic and can sometimes wash out essential minerals like potassium and zinc from your body, which can trigger hair thinning. Make sure you are eating a balanced, low-sugar diet rich in green leafy vegetables to replenish these minerals. Always keep your doctor informed.

When my mother had some concerns about her cardiac medicines, we went straight to her consultant at Fortis. The doctor explained every side effect clearly and adjusted the dose slightly. It's always best to ask your doctor directly instead of worrying in silence.

Hey there! Don't stress too much about hair fall, sometimes it's just weather changes too. Make sure to drink plenty of water as HCTZ makes you pee more. Keep smiling and let your doctor handle any medicine adjustments!

I was actually researching this drug online for my father because he started shedding hair recently. It seems drug-induced alopecia is listed as a very rare side effect for HCTZ. It's interesting how different bodies react, so we are planning to ask his doctor next week.
