Does hair spray cause hair loss?

Use a fair amount of hair spray, especially when I go out for parties, to keep my hairstyle in place. My mother keeps telling me it will make my hair fall out. Is there any truth to hair spray causing hair loss?

My daughter used to use setting sprays daily for her dance performances and her hair became very dry and brittle. We noticed a lot of breakage near the ends. Once we made her reduce the usage and started washing her hair properly, the breakage stopped.

Actually, hair sprays don't damage your roots directly, yaar. But if you spray it right on the scalp, it can block the pores. I only use it on the hair strands and wash it off the same day, otherwise, scalp itching starts.

Hairspray does not cause androgenetic alopecia, which is genetic. However, misuse can lead to contact dermatitis or hair breakage due to dryness. If you experience persistent hair shedding, it is best to consult a dermatologist for a professional evaluation.

Don't worry! Occasional hairspray for weddings and parties is totally fine. Just don't make it a daily habit and make sure to pamper your hair with a good wash afterwards.

People often blame external styling sprays for hair fall, but our hair strength comes from within. If you are eating a balanced, protein-rich diet with lots of nuts and green veggies, your roots will be strong enough to handle occasional styling products.

Hey, don't stress too much about hair sprays causing baldness. They just hold your style and can cause some temporary breakage if you brush too hard when the hair is stiff. Just wash it out gently and you'll be absolutely fine.

I have been styling my hair for years for corporate events. Hairspray itself won't cause hair loss unless you leave it in for days or try to comb through dry, sprayed hair which rips it from the roots. Always wash it out with a mild shampoo before going to bed.
