Does hair relaxer cause hair loss?

Been thinking of getting my hair relaxed to make it more manageable, especially for the humidity here. A few people have told me that hair relaxing treatments can lead to severe hair loss over time. Should I be worried about this?

Using heavy chemical treatments like relaxers can definitely damage the hair shafts, leading to breakage. I always suggest focusing on overall health through regular exercise and walking to keep blood circulation high. If your doctor allows, keep a good fitness routine to help your body recover from chemical stress.

I just went through a nightmare where a relaxer burned my scalp and caused massive hair fall. Thankfully, after stopping the chemicals and using a mild prescription shampoo for three months, my hair is finally growing back. Please stay away from those harsh salon creams.

Haan na, relaxers have such strong chemicals, they completely change the hair structure. A lot of my friends faced severe hair thinning after getting it done. It is better to embrace our natural texture instead of going for such harsh treatments.

My teenage daughter insisted on getting her curly hair chemically relaxed and we noticed severe breakage near the roots soon after. We stopped all treatments immediately and switched to gentle coconut oil massages. Parents should really monitor these harsh chemical salon treatments.

I log all my symptoms on a health tracker app, and I noticed a huge spike in my scalp dryness whenever I used styling chemical products. Relaxers break the chemical bonds in your hair, which naturally leads to breakage. It's better to track your scalp health and minimize these procedures.

If you have scalp irritation or hair loss after using a relaxer, do not apply random home remedies like onion juice or egg whites which can worsen the chemical burn. Go see a qualified dermatologist immediately to assess if there is any permanent follicular damage.

In our younger days, we never had these chemical relaxers and our hair stayed thick and healthy for a long time. Don't worry too much if you have lost some hair now. Stop these treatments, eat healthy home-cooked food, and your hair will slowly regain its strength.
