Does hair growth serum cause dandruff?

I've been using a hair growth serum for a few months to help with thinning hair. Lately, I've noticed my scalp getting quite flaky and itchy, almost like dandruff. Could the hair growth serum be causing this dandruff?

Yes, some heavy serums can leave a residue on your scalp that looks like dandruff or clogs the pores. My tip is to always apply serum on a clean scalp and use a clarifying shampoo once a week to prevent buildup.

Agree, certain alcohol-based serums dry out the skin, causing flaking. Switch to a milder, water-based serum if possible.

Haan na, even I noticed dry white flakes after starting a new hair serum. I think it just doesn't suit my scalp type. Maybe we should stop using it for a few days to see if the flakes go away.

Actually, some active ingredients in hair serums can cause initial dryness or irritation, which mimics dandruff. Try spacing out the applications, and if the itching and flaking persist, ask your doctor for an alternative.

Look, if the serum is too heavy or if you don't wash your hair properly, it will definitely cause buildup and flaking. Keep your scalp clean and don't apply too much product thinking it will grow hair faster.
