Does hair dryer help with dandruff?

I suffer from persistent dandruff, especially in winter. I usually air-dry my hair, but a colleague told me that using a hairdryer might help reduce dandruff by keeping the scalp dry. Is there any benefit to using a hairdryer for dandruff?

Actually, drying your hair helps because keeping your scalp wet for too long creates a damp environment where dandruff-causing fungus thrives. But don't use high heat as that will dry out your skin and cause more flaking. Use the cool air setting on your dryer.

I sweat a lot in the gym and used to get dandruff from leaving my scalp damp. Blowing it dry on a cool setting right after a shower definitely helps prevent that fungal growth. Pair it with a clean diet and less sugar, and you will see a huge difference.

People with diabetes are more prone to skin and fungal infections like dandruff. While keeping the scalp dry with a hair dryer is good, we must be careful not to use too much heat which damages dry skin. Keep your blood sugar in control and use a mild medicated shampoo instead.

I noticed my dandruff gets worse in winter because I leave my hair wet for hours. Using a hair dryer on medium heat definitely helped reduce that itchy feeling. Just don't hold it too close to your scalp because it can burn the skin.

I recently recovered from a bad bout of scalp infection. My doctor told me to dry my hair immediately after washing because damp hair is a breeding ground for yeast. Using my hair dryer on the 'cool' mode made a massive difference in controlling my itchiness.

Don't stress, it is a very common issue. Keeping your scalp dry is important because moisture allows dandruff to grow, so a hair dryer on a cool setting is actually a good habit. But if the flaking is severe, please don't experiment too much and consult a doctor.

In our times, we dried our hair in the natural sun which is the best way to keep the scalp healthy. These modern hot dryers just dry out the natural oils and make the dandruff worse. If you must use it, use only cool air, and apply a little warm coconut oil with lemon juice once a week.

Look brother, a hair dryer is not a cure for dandruff. It only dries your hair so that fungus doesn't grow in wet hair. But if you already have heavy dandruff, you need a proper anti-dandruff shampoo from a chemist, not a hair dryer.

Drying your scalp prevents the dampness that fungus loves, but a hair dryer won't cure actual dandruff. Use a medicated shampoo for that.

Haha, if hair dryers cured dandruff, salon owners would be skin doctors by now! It only stops your head from smelling like wet socks, which is great. For the actual snow falling from your head, stick to a good ketoconazole shampoo.
