Does hair conditioner make your hair fall out?

I've always used conditioner after shampooing, but lately, I feel like I'm losing more hair than usual. My mother-in-law said that too much conditioner can make hair fall out. Is there any truth to that claim?

My mother always told us to use home-made hibiscus paste to soften hair. But nowadays, young people use chemical conditioners. If you apply it directly to the scalp, it can weaken the roots, so my family doctor advised us to use it only on the hair strands and wash it off fully.

I have high BP and notice my hair falls more when I am under stress or not eating well. A simple conditioner won't cause hair loss unless you have a bad scalp allergy. Focus on keeping your stress low, get your blood pressure checked regularly, and live a healthy lifestyle.

Hey there! Don't worry at all, conditioner is meant to protect your hair! Just keep it away from the roots and apply it to the ends. Your hair will be super soft and happy! 😊

No, conditioner doesn't cause hair fall unless you apply it directly on the scalp and leave it unwashed.

Conditioner doesn't cause hair fall, but it makes already loose hair slide out easily in the shower, which makes people panic. Just use a coin-sized amount only on the hair lengths, leave it for two minutes, and rinse quickly. Don't waste time worrying about normal shedding.

I used to cry seeing so many hair strands in the drain after using conditioner and thought I was going bald. But my dermatologist reassured me that it is completely normal to lose 50-100 strands a day. The conditioner just untangles them, so they fall out all at once.

It is important to understand that hair loss is primarily hormonal or nutritional, not cosmetic. While bad application of conditioner can cause scalp build-up, it rarely causes actual root hair fall. If you are experiencing excessive shedding, please consult a dermatologist for a proper diagnosis.

I went through severe hair fall last month and realized I was applying my heavy conditioner right on my scalp. The product build-up was clogging my follicles. Once I stopped doing that and rinsed it out completely, my hair fall went back to normal.
