Does going gluten free help with weight loss?

My friend started a gluten-free diet and lost a lot of weight. I'm trying to shed a few kilos myself. Is going gluten-free actually a good strategy for weight loss?

I have been reading so much about gluten causing inflammation and weight gain, and it makes me so nervous every time I eat a roti! I want to try going gluten-free but I'm scared I'll lose out on important nutrients. If you try it, please let me know how it goes, I hope it works out well for you!

I cut out wheat and maida for three months because my stomach was feeling very heavy. I actually lost around 4 kilos, but honestly, it was probably because I stopped eating samosas and biscuits with my evening tea. For me, it was more about cutting the junk than gluten itself.

It only helps if you're eating fewer calories overall. Just replacing regular rotis with expensive gluten-free ones won't magically make you lose weight.

Managing my high BP taught me that weight loss requires a complete lifestyle change, not just cutting one ingredient. Instead of just going gluten-free, focus on reducing salt, eating more veggies, and getting regular blood pressure checkups. My doctor always says consistent exercise is what actually keeps the weight off.

I completely understand how stressful it is to constantly worry about what food is making us gain weight, I used to feel the same anxiety. But don't put too much pressure on yourself to cut out wheat completely. Just start with small steps like reducing processed foods first, it feels much safer and less overwhelming.

Before you completely remove gluten from your diet, please get a proper blood test done for celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. Suddenly stopping wheat can sometimes hide the actual underlying issue when doctors try to diagnose you later. Safety first, so check with a certified dietitian before making big changes.

Haan, log aajkal bahut gluten-free gluten-free karte hain, par humare gharon mein toh shuru se gehu hi khaya ja raha hai na. If you replace wheat rotis with bajra or jowar, weight loss mein thoda help toh milega because they have more fiber. Par completely gluten band karne ki koi khaas zaroorat nahi hai physically.

I just went back to normal food after six months on a strict gluten-free diet for weight loss. Honestly, I didn't lose any extra weight compared to when I was just doing normal calorie counting, and those gluten-free flours taste so dry. It is much better to just eat balanced, homemade Indian food.

Yaar, life without soft butter naans and hot parathas sounds like a punishment! I tried going gluten-free for a week and ended up craving pizza even more. Unless you actually have an allergy, I think just controlling the portion size of your rotis is much easier and happier.

I agree with what others are saying. It is much more effective to focus on eating whole, unprocessed foods like brown rice and lentils rather than buying processed gluten-free packets.
