Does glipizide cause weight gain?

My mother recently started taking glipizide for her diabetes. She's complaining that she's gaining weight and feels hungrier often. Does this medicine typically lead to weight gain?

Oh absolutely! It makes me feel hungry at odd hours, so I end up eating midnight snacks instead of sleeping. No wonder my waistline is expanding. It is a constant battle between controlling sugar and controlling cravings!

Yes, glipizide can cause some weight gain as it stimulates your pancreas to produce more insulin. Please don't worry or stop the medicine suddenly. We can easily manage this by being careful with our diet and doing regular evening walks.

While glipizide is known to cause mild weight gain, do not trust random online tips or diet trends to counter it. Every diabetic's body reacts differently. You must verify any dietary changes or side effects directly with your endocrinologist.

I tried drinking methi water, bitter gourd juice, and everything under the sun to avoid gaining weight on glipizide. In the end, what actually worked was simply reducing my rice portions and staying physically active. It is a common side effect, but very manageable with a structured diet.

It definitely loves adding a few extra inches to your belly! It makes you feel like eating a second dinner. Just keep some cucumber slices handy for those sudden cravings and you will survive this side effect easily!
